Indexing & Abstracting
Surgery Case Reports International (SCRI) (Impact Factor: 2.960) is an online, open access, peer-reviewed, broad scope international journal covering all surgical specialties. It is dedicated to publishing case reports, case series, case blogs, clinical videos, and clinical images. Articles should be genuine, ethical, informative, and clinically engaging for a global audience comprising surgeons, trainees, and researchers across all surgical subspecialties, in addition to clinicians in associated disciplines.
All submitted articles must adhere to the applicable reporting standards. The journal is released on a monthly basis and emphasizes quick turnaround times from submission to decision. All articles are peer-reviewed, and if accepted for publication, authors are notified of this decision and requested to pay an Article Processing Fee. Following payment of this fee, the article is made universally available. You will discover clinically and educationally valuable research material in the areas of general surgery, gastrointestinal surgery, cardiovascular and thoracic surgery, neurosurgery, oncosurgery, renal surgery, pediatric surgery, transplant surgery, and liver surgery.
Authors are required to prepare and format their submissions in line with the most recent version of the Uniform Requirements for Manuscripts Submitted to Biomedical Journals, as stipulated by the International Committee of Medical Journal Editors (ICMJE).
Any manuscript submitted for publication must not have been previously published, accepted for publication, or currently under consideration by another publisher in either electronic or print formats. This excludes materials such as reviews, abstracts, theses, or segments of published lectures.
Authors are invited to submit their articles through the journal’s website using the ‘Submit’ menu or via email, including a cover letter, images/figures, and the manuscript text files. The journal specifically encourages submissions from the relevant author only. It maintains a strict policy against plagiarized content, multiple submissions from a single author, and overlapping or redundant publications for review and publication.
The peer review process is a critical aspect of academic publishing, particularly in scholarly journals, where it ensures the quality and validity of the research being published. Here’s an overview of how the peer review process typically works:
Submission: After an author submits a manuscript to a journal, the editorial office conducts an initial check to ensure that the submission meets the journal’s scope and formatting guidelines. If the manuscript passes this initial check, it proceeds to the peer review stage.
Assignment to Reviewers: The editor-in-chief or handling editor assigns the manuscript to one or more independent experts in the field, known as peer reviewers or referees. Reviewers are selected based on their expertise and qualifications relevant to the manuscript’s subject matter.
Reviewing Process: Reviewers critically evaluate the manuscript to assess its quality, originality, significance, and validity of findings. They provide constructive feedback on various aspects, including methodology, interpretation of results, clarity of writing, and adherence to ethical standards. Reviewers may also suggest revisions or improvements to strengthen the manuscript.
Editorial Decision: Based on the feedback from the peer reviewers, the editor-in-chief or handling editor makes an editorial decision regarding the manuscript. The possible decisions include:
Acceptance: The manuscript is accepted for publication without revisions or with minor revisions.
Minor Revision: The manuscript requires minor revisions to address specific feedback from reviewers.
Major Revision: The manuscript requires significant revisions or additional experiments to address substantial concerns raised by reviewers.
Reject and Resubmit: The manuscript is not suitable for publication in its current form but may be resubmitted after substantial revisions.
Rejection: The manuscript does not meet the journal’s standards or is not a good fit for the journal’s scope.
Author Revision: If revisions are requested, the authors revise the manuscript accordingly, addressing each of the reviewers’ comments and concerns. They provide a detailed response letter explaining how they addressed each point raised by the reviewers.
Final Decision: After the authors submit the revised manuscript, the editor-in-chief or handling editor evaluates the revisions and may consult with the original reviewers if necessary. Based on the revisions and reviewers’ feedback, the editor makes a final decision on whether to accept the manuscript for publication.
Publication: If the manuscript is accepted, it undergoes copyediting and formatting by the journal’s editorial team before being published online or in print. Impact factor is a metric used to assess the relative importance and influence of academic journals within their respective fields. Journals with high impact factors are often considered prestigious and attract a large number of submissions from researchers. Here are some characteristics commonly associated with journals with high impact factors:

Original Research: These journals often prioritize original research articles that make significant contributions to the field, whether through groundbreaking discoveries, novel methodologies, or insightful interpretations of data.
Broad Scope: While some high-impact factor journals focus on specific subfields, many cover a broad range of topics within their discipline, attracting submissions from diverse areas of research.
Interdisciplinary Appeal: Some high-impact factor journals span multiple disciplines or have interdisciplinary appeal, facilitating collaboration and cross-pollination of ideas between researchers from different fields.
International Reach: Many high-impact factor journals have a global readership and authorship, publishing research from around the world and contributing to the dissemination of knowledge on a global scale.
High Citations: Journals with high impact factors tend to have articles that are frequently cited by other researchers, indicating their influence and importance within the scientific community.
Editorial Excellence: High-impact factor journals are often led by prestigious editorial boards comprising experts in the field who ensure the quality and relevance of published content.
Innovation and Leadership: These journals may be known for fostering innovation, leading the way in new research directions, and shaping the future of their respective fields.
The peer review process helps maintain the integrity and credibility of scholarly literature by ensuring that published research meets rigorous standards of quality and validity.
